Our traditions

The twin words "Kusum Gboo" are literally translated as "Tradition Never Dies". As is already known, the life of the African in times past was centered on several cultural practices and traditions. Elaborate traditional rites accompanied ceremonies like planting, harvesting, courtship, marriage, naming, funeral ceremonies, wars and festivals in traditional societies.

In recent times, these rites, some of which have been around for centuries have undergone several transformations but the essential ingredients have been preserved. It is therefore the aim of Kusum Gboo Dance Ensemble to help sustain and promote our rich traditional values. Our music and dance pieces, which are deeply rooted in ancient African movements and rhythms, proof the fact that tradition develops and undergoes transformations from generation to generation.
