Our
traditions cont.
Intricate
rites and ceremonies that were performed in ancient African Royal
Courts remain an integral part of day-to-day activities by present
day African Kings, Queens and Chiefs. Indeed, despite the loss of
political power by traditional African rulers and the growth of
tiny hamlets and villages into sprawling cities, most traditional
practices that govern royalty in Africa are largely intact.
With
the advent of democracy in Africa, politicians have realized the
need to be at the forefront in the sustenance of our rich cultural
heritage. Consequently, traditional rites have in recent times been
increasingly present in activities organized by politicians.
