As
part of its tour of Norway, Kusum Gboo Dance Ensemble held a workshop
on African dance and music for sixth and seventh graders at the
Kongeroed Samfunnshus School in Skien, a small town in Norway.
Young dancer Stephen Osono backed by subtle drums took the excited
youngsters through the basic movements of traditional African
dance forms amidst singing and miming of folk songs. The students
could not hide their joy as their arms cut through the air through
controlled formations - indeed, they jumped, run and rolled on
the dancing floor as the follwed movements from the instructor.
A couple of students took advantage of the workshop and demonstrated
their skills in "break dancing".
